WIFE OF LUCIOUS L. NEAL (PVT US ARMY)
Eleanor Johnson Neal, 80, a retired teacher from the Memphis City School System passed this life December 14, 2019, at Methodist Hospice House on Quince Road. She was born March 24, 1939 in Germantown, Tennessee. She was the tenth of eleven children born to the union of the late Carl Everett Johnson and Eunice Harris Johnson. Eleanor received her elementary and high school education in the Shelby County Schools. She received her B.S. Degree from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis Tennessee in 1960, and started teaching that same year in the Memphis City School System. In 1990, she obtained her Master’s degree in Curriculum Development from Trevecca University in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up as a Methodist and worked tirelessly in church, school and the community until she retired August 7, 1997 after 36 years of service. She was married to Lucious L. Neal Jr. (deceased 11/13/89) and to that union two beautiful daughters were born: Andrea Neal Merriweather (Bobby), and Sheryl Denise Neal. She is survived by her daughters, and Son- in–law, two grandchildren Jessica Denise Merriweather and Jeremy Dewayne Merriweather, two great grandchildren Malana Nzeba Mzamo and Elvis Lungani Mzamo Jr. (Elvis Sr.), one Sister Alice Johnson Davis (Roy), many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 21, from 10-11:45. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12 noon.
