Our loving, kind and gentle mother passed away quietly at the home of her daughter on December 17, 2019 from complications of a stroke.

She was born April 1,1926 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She is the daughter of Errol McKay Halliday (deceased 1933) and Jennie Fage Halliday (deceased 1939). After her mother's death in 1939, Lucille and her siblings were divided and went to live with other family members. Mom lived with Grandma and Grandpa Fage in Pleasant Grove.

From Pleasant Grove Mom was asked to tend her cousins and so traveled to Bountiful, Utah where she met her eternal companion, Charles Roy East. They were married on August 10, 1942 in Preston Idaho. Later they were sealed as a family, in the Ogden Temple, on May 25, 1974.

Lucille has always been a dedicated mother of 8, with a legacy that continues to grow. She is the grandmother of of 34, the great-grandmother of 80 with 1 on the way, and great-great grandmother of 17 with 2 on the way. We are all so blessed.

She is survived by her brother Ernest Halliday (Grace); children Cheryl Ann Ferrin (Spencer J-deceased), Charles McKay East (Laurie), Lillian Nelson (James Eugene), Thomas John East (Sally Jo-deceased), Marie Piliu (Sateki), Hollie Horne (Brett Dee), and Joy Burch (Mike). She raised her children in Bountiful, Utah; Riverton, Wyoming; Centerville, Utah and completed the last chapter of her journey back in Bountiful.

Mom's compassion and love for others is an example of her strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lucille lived her life serving others as a faithful Daughter of our Heavenly Father. She loved studying the scriptures daily. She served in many callings in Relief Society, was a wonderful primary teacher and was diligent in her temple attendance. Her Christlike selfless attitude was present while lying in the hospital, her wish was for everyone to "go home and take care of your families."

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, sewing, and canning. We will miss her apple pie, salty pears in the autumn, corn dogs, jello, banana pudding, cream tuna on toast, and sloppy joes. Her love of music and singing lightened her step and helped create peace in her home. She continued developing her talent of singing throughout her life and enjoyed her participation as a choir member. She sang like an angel. As a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, she was a docent at the DUP museum in Centerville and Salt Lake City as well as the Whitaker Home Museum in Centerville. She also enjoyed her association with the "lunch bunch".

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Bountiful 43rd Ward, 990 North 100 West, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Saturday 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
