Janice Hill
Janice Joy Hill (Brannagan) 76, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away on December 18, 2019 at Atria Hearthstone.
Janice was born on July 9th 1943, to LaVern and Louise Brannagan (Flessner). She had two sisters, Bonnie and Kathryn and one brother, Dennis.
On May 5th 1961, Janice married John R. Hill in Manhattan KS. Janice and John had two daughters and two sons during their 38 years of marriage.
Janice was the proprietor of Vern’s Donuts and Cakes. She was well known in her community and the baking community worldwide. She had participated in and won twice at ICES (International Cake Explorer Society) events. She enjoyed teaching cake decorating classes to her students for many years; she also taught baking and decorating classes at the American Institute of Baking. Janice retired in 2012.
Janice enjoyed helping others her whole life. She was proud of her work as a foster parent to many. Although the trials were tough, she wouldn’t have traded it for anything. She kept this work going as long as her health allowed.
Janice was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran church where she was baptized, confirmed, married and taught Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents and both of her sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Debra Delzeit (Ed); daughter Suellyn Hooper (Jeff); son Alan Hill (Stacey) and son Randy Hill; brother Dennis Brannagan; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 23, 2019, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 355 N Delaware Ave. Manhattan KS.
The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the church prior to the service.
