Mattie Ann Warder married William Jackson "Jack" Clark on 20 January 1874 in Barren county, and was the mother of a son and 3 daughters:

Walter Elvis Clark, (1875 - 1964)
Velma Elizabeth Boyd (1878 - 1969)
Mary Ellen Clark (1880 - 1962)
Georgie Stanton Clark (1889 - 1890)

Although the marker for Mattie shows she died in 1916, it is in error. Her daughter, Mrs. Velma Boyd, resided in Tullahoma, Tennessee as of the 1910 census, and some sources claimed Mattie died there in 1916. Her son, Walter Elvis Clark, listed her as his next-of-kin on his World War I draft card dated September 1918, with his mother's residence given as Tullahoma, implying she was still living two years after that date.. The 1920 census shows her living at 1401 Gallatin Road, Davidson county, Tennessee with daughter Mary Ellen, while the 1930 census shows mother and daughter living at 1223 17th Street, Bradenton, Manatee county, Florida. Her Florida death certificate, number 12703, correctly identified her as the widow of Wm. Jackson Clark, and the daughter of John Warder and Evalina Norris. As noted in both her death certificate and obituary, she was buried with her late husband. Daughter Georgie is buried with Mattie and William, while daughter Mary and son Walter are buried near by.

William Henry Clark, Mattie's father-in-law, published a family history booklet in 1905. He claims that Mattie had two children who died as infants - one buried at Glasgow (Georgie), and one at Cave City. As the 1900 and 1910 census both show Mattie as the mother of 4 children, 3 living, this fifth child might have been an error. My thanks to Wayne Hatcher for identifying Mattie's fourth child, Georgie, and for the Clark family marker photos. Thanks also to Laura Stewart for adding Mattie's obituary, and pointing out the date error on her marker. While Mattie's middle name is listed as "Jane" in her obituary, her headstone, as well as the 1860, 1880, 1900, and 1930 census records, list her middle initial as "A", while Florida death records list her middle name as Ann. Other records found list no middle initial.
