Our beloved mother, Dr. Charlotte Runa (Daniel) Allen, 78, fondly known as "Maw-maw," or "Dr. Mom," of Monroe, GA, went home to be with Jesus at about 5 a.m., on Thursday, December 19, 2019.
Dr. Charlotte Allen was born at home in Social Circle, Walton County, Georgia, on June 11, 1941. She fell madly in love and married her high school sweetheart, Phillip Ronald Allen, whom she knew since kindergarten, on July 29, 1959, and God blessed their union with five children. Charlotte was born again in 1964. And along with Phillip in 1969, she surrendered her life to serve the Lord as missionaries to Brazil. She attended Immanuel Bible College in Atlanta, Georgia, for three years. In 1997 Charlotte received her honorary doctorate from Carolina University of Theology in Lincolnton, NC.
She home-schooled her children several years, and was her mother's caregiver during her last days, and later for her brother throughout his. In their "empty nesters" years, Charlotte didn't want to cook as often anymore, and Phillip happily obliged without complaint. Which made them familiar figures at their favorite local restaurants. She passionately cared for Phillip and washed clothes every day. The hummingbird was her favorite bird, and ice cream was her choice dessert.
Her husband survives Charlotte; Dr. Phillip R. Allen and five children; Renae (Allen) Oakley, of Suwanee, GA; Scott, of Joinville, Brazil; Laura, of Monroe, GA; James, of Joinville, Brazil; Andrew, of Alpharetta, GA. A sister, Brenda (Daniel) Brewster, of Bremen, GA. Fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her parents predeceased her; Horace "Bo" and Ruby (Peters) Daniel (2001 and 2010 respectively). Two brothers, Horace (stillborn in 1946) and Lamar (2014), and two grandchildren, twins - Melissa and Sabrina Allen (1992).
Funeral services are at Meadows Funeral Home, 760 Highway 11 SE, Monroe, GA 30655. With Pastor Derik Lawrence of Victory Baptist Church, Loganville, GA officiating. Interment was at Rest Haven Cemetery, 200 N. Madison Ave. Monroe, GA, 30655. With Meadows Funeral Co. in charge. Pallbearers were; the Global Evangelism Team of Victory Baptist Church.
