Jesse A. Jewett, b. May 4, 1837, Swanton, Franklin, Vermont. d. April 16, 1866 (March 16, 1866, gravestone) Swanton, Franklin, Vermont. He was the son of Eleazer Jewett and Dorothy Abel (buried St.Albans Bay Cemetery).

"On the outbreak of the Civil War he was mustered into the U.S. service as 2nd Lieutenant of Co. C, 5th Vermont Volunteers, Sept. 5th, 1861; was promoted to 1st Lieutenant July 9, 1862; promoted to Captain of Company K, March 21, 1863, and resigned on account of physical disability, May 29, 1863, of which he died. He was in the battles of Lee's Mills, Williamsburg, Golding Farm, Savage Station, White Oak Swamp, Crompton's Gap, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Mary's Heights, and Salem Heights." Unmarried.
