Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, 2007, for William R. ‘Bill' Baker, 87, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Harold Isaacs and Brother Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Hill Cemetery in Segno. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568.
He was born June 14, 1919 in Wildie, Kentucky, the son of William and Matilda Gadd Baker. Mr. Baker was a life member of the VFW Post 8568 and a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Goodrich.
Mr. Baker died Tuesday, June 12, in Memorial Medical Center, Livingston. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ulysses Baker, Thomas Baker and Martin ‘Rocky' Baker; and sisters, Ella Ramsey, Beulah Roberts, Flora McGuire, Myrtle Barger, Ruth Robbins and Hazel Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Baker of Goodrich; nephews, Steve Baker of Livingston, Bill Baker of Washington State and Perry Baker of Brodhead, Kentucky; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Steve Baker, Curtis R. Gokey, James Phillips, Ronnie Thompson, Tom Pete Nelson and James Walters. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Rowell, Johnny Myers, Ed Cleavinger, Ed Peacock and members of the Men's Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.
