Chad Micheal Hicks Harris, age 34, Joplin, passed away at 9:19 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital.
Chad was born July 8, 1985 in Joplin to Dana Smittle Hicks and the late Michael Hicks and had lived in the area most of his life.
Chad graduated from the police academy at Missouri Southern State University. He worked as a police officer for the City of Carthage and for the Newton County Sheriff's Department for several years.
A sports enthusiast, Chad was a huge Mizzou fan. He enjoyed his family and being a father to his son, Finley. Chad was a very creative, witty, and artistic young man. Chad will be missed by everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Dana Cook, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; adoptive father and stepmother, Danny and Jeana Harris, Joplin; his son, Finley and his mother, Brittany Harris, Neosho, Missouri; his siblings, Stephanie Alexander, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Amber Nipper and husband, Lucas, Seattle, Washington, Austin Harris and wife, Maddie, Olathe, Kansas, Logan Harris, Kaleb 'K.B.' Harris, Noah Harris, Elijah Harris, Aaron Cook, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Dawson, Gabriel, Gracie, Annabelle, Ellie; grandparents, Mary Smittle, Joplin, Joe Smittle, Joplin, Trellis and Anna Hicks, Colorado, Ron and Joanne Harris, Quincy, Illinois, Mike and Bobbie Pauley, Boonville, Missouri; and many other extended family members and friends.
Services are planned for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Harris, Logan Harris, Kaleb 'K.B.' Harris, Noah Harris, Elijah Harris, Aaron Cook, Dawson Hicks and Lucas Nipper. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-5:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
