MAJ (Retired) Charles E. Stiles

Funeral service for MAJ (Retired) Charles E. Stiles will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Veterans Field of Honor at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

MAJ (Retired) Charles E. Stiles died Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Lawton at the age of 86. He was born May 27, 1933 at Fontana, North Carolina to Columbus Haley and Cathrine Agnes (Vest) Stiles. He attended Alcoa High School in Tennessee and was a graduate of the University of Maryland and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He married Elsie Elizabeth Dean on August 18, 1956. She preceded him in death after 38 years of marriage.

He served in the U.S. Army from June 25, 1950 until his retirement on December 31, 1977. He was a Vietnam veteran and his awards include the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with second oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal with third award, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge. Following his retirement he was owner and president of CS Vending Company for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Stiles, Jr., Chickasha, Oklahoma and Samuel H. Stiles, Lawton, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Haley H. Stiles, Lawton; grandson, Rylan S. Stiles, Lawton; adopted daughter, Rebecca K. Stiles, Lawton, Oklahoma; brother, Quentin Stiles, Ocala, Florida; and sister, Helen E. Loftin, Kansas City, Missouri.

His wife, brother, William Lynn, and his sister, Mary Ida, preceded him in death
