Graveside services for Retha Ann McMullen Parsons, 82, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vassar Cemetery in Vassar, with the Rev. Don Miller officiating.

She died Sunday, March 1, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 13, 1909, in Humphreys, Mo., to John Leonard and Zelphie Mae Williams Pierce. She grew up in Missouri and moved to the Lawrence area in 1945.

She married Lester Clell McMullen in 1929 in Unionville, Mo. They were divorced. He died April 25, 1974. She married Earl Parsons in 1957 in Lyndon. He died Aug. 16, 1982.

She worked at the Douglas County Home in the late 1940s and early 1950s, then at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for three years and Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for more than 25 years. She also worked for three years at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in DeSoto and as a welder in Portland, Ore., during World War II. She was a licensed practical nurse.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Rebekah Lodge, both of Lawrence.

She is survived by a daughter, Leota E. Tingle, Lawrence; a brother, Robert Pierce, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Edith Humphries, Trenton, Mo., and Minnie Osgood, Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.
