He was born February 15, 1946 in Harlan County to the late Abe Jones and Rhoda Daniels Jones. He was a retired coal miner and believed in the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coots Jones.
Marshall is survived by his son, Scotty Jones, Sharps Chapel, TN; one brother, Jimmy Jones and wife, Lorine, Putney; and one sister, Eileen Howard and husband, David, Baxter.
