Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on April 27, 2016 (online):
Charles Stanley Shackelford was born May 2, 1941 to Abner and Valeria Shackelford, and went home to his Lord on April 26, 2016.

Charley went to Sapulpa High School where he graduated in 1959. On December 30, 1960 Charley married the love of his life, Nola Ray at the home of Johnny and Dora Patterson. To this union three children were born.

Charley worked several years for Get N Go Store, Wilbert Burial Vaults, and later retired from American Heritage Bank.

He was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Sapulpa, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for junior boys, high school youth leader and helped with building and grounds. He also served on the church board as a deacon and elder.

Charley was a talented carpenter and handyman. He designed and built several pieces of furniture for family and friends throughout the years. There was nothing that he could not fix or build. He enjoyed many hobbies besides wood working, such as playing cards and cooking. Charley was an avid bowler for many years.

There was nothing he enjoyed more than being with his family. His children were always very special to him; however, the grandchildren and great-grand babies filled his heart with joy and made his cup overflow.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Haley.
He is survived by his spouse, Nola of the home; his children Donna Nagel and husband Larry, Rhea Kerby and husband Mike, and David Shackelford and wife Donna; grandchildren: Courtney Hambright and husband Dan, Brittany Timmons and husband Corey, Chelsea Elbert and husband Mitch, Jordan Nagel, Mariah Kerby, and Matthew Shackelford; great-grandchildren: Addison and Nash Hambright, and Haley and Aubrey Timmons; one sister, Judy Shackelford; and many other family members and close friends.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, to make donations to the building fund at First Christian Church of Sapulpa.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S. Main St., Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at First Christian Church, 220 E. Lee Ave., Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa.
