Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott. The Rev. Glenn Meaux will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Lula Hebert Sonnier, of Lafayette; one daughter, Sally Landry and her husband, Geno, of Jennings; one son, Chad Abel Sonnier and his wife, Monica, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Callie Bourque, Chad Anthony Sonnier, Casie Sonnier, Chrissie Landry Herrera and her husband, Eduardo Jr., Kim Landry and Brandon Landry; one great grandchild, DeAndre "Dee" Landry; and one sister, Eunice Serrette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Offord Sonnier and Ada Arabie Sonnier; his paternal grandparents, Joseph Sonnier and Denise Doucet Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Frank Arabie and Amelia Cormier Arabie; and one sister, Vivian Sonnier Boudreaux.
A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mr. Sonnier was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the City of Lafayette with 30 years of service. Mr. Sonnier was an avid horse trainer. He took great pride in his yard by cutting the grass and he also loved playing bourre'.
Mr. Sonnier was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed.
A rosary was prayed in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott.
