Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Junious Goodwin Peoples and Hattie Robertson Peoples. She was the widow of Harold Evans Ranes.
She was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for over forty years and was involved in many church committees. She was a member of the Young at Heart Club, she volunteered at the Henderson Y.M.C.A, was a member of the Friendship Club at the Y.M.C.A and took Water Aerobics at the Y. Hattie was a member of the former Henderson Civitan Club for twenty years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at North Henderson Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Parrish Mullen (Gary) and Brenda Parrish Satterwhite (James), one son, Michael Harold Ranes (Darlene); three sisters, Myrtle P. White, Susie P. Vick, and Grace P. O’Geary; three grandchildren, Rose Jones, Cheryl Pittman, and June Parks; six great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Clara P. Abbott, Ethel P. Clark, Louise P. Reynolds, and Catherine P. Shinkle and two brothers, Edwin Peoples, and Norwood Peoples, and a great great-grandson Austin Thomas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6:00-7-:30 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at her home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Anthony Currin, Ryan Sparks, Gary Abbott, Robert Shinkle, Jonathan O’Geary, David Vick, Wayne Journegan, Donnie Reynolds, Chris Vick, Tyler Tunstall, and Bill Mustian.
