Jimmy Dale Maples, 87 of Eastland went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his home with family by his side.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 2PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 411 S. Mulberry, Eastland with interment following in the Eastland City Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8PM.

Jimmy was born August 1st, 1932 in Romney, Texas, to parents Cecil R. Maples and Vercie M. (Long) Maples.

He attended school in the Carbon school system, and later joined the US Navy in 1951. He served from Nov. 51- Feb 52 at the United States Navy Training Center, San Diego, Ca.; March 52- Sept 57 USS Parks, San Diego, CA; Sept 57 – July 59 USS Midway, Alameda, CA; Aug 61 – Dec 64 USS Philip, Pearl Harbor, HI; Jan 65 – Aug 67 USS Kearsarge, Long Beach, CA; Dec 68-Dec 69 NSA Saigon; Aug 59 – Aug 61 and Jan 70 – Nov 71 White Sands Missile Range, NM.

After retirement he worked for Lone Star Gas for several years, and later became an independent contractor around Eastland.

Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and serving his Savior. He pastored Carbon Christ Center for 34 years and saw many come to the Lord. He retired from the church in 2019.

After his retirement he enjoyed spending time at the lake property.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Alton Maples; and 2 sisters, Veta Mae Williams, and Faye Mauldin; daughter-in-law, Linda White; grandson, Justin Justice; great-grandson, Jayden Justice; and 2 great-great granddaughters, Maci Jolene Justice and Tea-Maria Noel.

Survived by his wife of 49 years, Venna Sullivent Maples; daughter, Barbara Seaton and husband, Randy; sons, Chris Justice and wife, Lisa and Bobby White all of Eastland; 11 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Cecil Maples and wife, Betty of Cisco; 2 sisters, Carolyn Burns and husband, Tim and Dorothy Ack all of Abilene, brother-in-law, Roland Mauldin of Clyde; sister-in-law, Princess Krantz and husband, Richard of Eastland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Solaris Hospice (509 Elm Street, Graham, TX 76450) or to a charity of your choice.
