Obituary of Troy D. Hughes
Funeral services for Mr. Troy D. Hughes, Sr., are scheduled for 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Stevenson Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 AM - 10:30 AM service time.

Mr. Hughes, born on May 14, 1929 in Polkville, MS, passed away December 14, 2019 in West Monroe, LA. He was an accomplished musician and storyteller. Mr. Hughes was an excellent woodworker; building many pieces of furniture and several musical instruments. He enjoyed playing music, woodworking, visiting his many friends, and spinning stories. He operated many service stations in the area, finally retiring from Rimcor. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Hughes attended Bethel Baptist Church in Bastrop.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Vester Hughes; son, Troy D. Hughes, Jr.; brothers, Clinton Hughes, Bernis Hughes, Clyde Hughes, James Hughes, and Huey Hughes; and sisters, Ella Mae Stevens and Eva Rae Marks.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of fifty years, Carolyn Hughes; children, Beverly Price (Bill), Gary Hughes (Cindy), Todd Hughes (Sandra); daughter-in-law, Ruth Hughes; mother of his children, Thelma Gill, Mike Antley ( Laura), Chris Hughes (Tara); grandchildren, Eric Price (Kim), Greg Hughes, Mandy Guice (Gary), Brooke Hughes, Corey Hughes (Ashley), Garrett Antley, Jerrett Fowler, Heather Fowler, Kaleb Fowler (Laura), Tamara Yousif, and Damon Fowler; ten great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Jeff McCain, William Grayson, Eric Price, Brian Boykin, Greg Hughes and Ross Riles.
