Garrett W. "Buzzy" Anfinson, 59, of Sergeant Bluff passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 13, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery, Cushing, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Garrett Wayne Anfinson was born on April 15, 1954, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Aloyus and Hazel (Johnson) Anfinson. The family moved to Montana for a few years, then to Sioux City. Garrett graduated from East High School in 1973.
On July 20, 1973, Garrett was united in marriage to Vonda O’Donnell in Sioux City. They moved to Sergeant Bluff during 1982. Garrett worked for a few years with Cargill, then in November 1976, he began working at Mid-American Energy, and was currently working in the gas service department.
Garrett was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed his cars, and was rated a single engine airplane pilot. He was a member of the NRA and a third generation Mason.
Garrett is survived by his wife, Vonda; two daughters, Jeaneen and her husband, Kirby Eli of Dallas, Texas, and Stephanie and her husband, Mike Mohr of Dallas; five grandchildren, Gracie, Owen and Ryan Eli and Derk and Raegan Mohr; his parents, Aloyus and Hazel Anfinson of Park Rapids, Minn.; one sister, Gina Behrendsen of Phoenix, Ariz.; other relatives; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Patrick O’Donnell, Gunner O’Donnell, Mike Mohr, Kirby Eli, Duane Benson, Marty Buss, Bruce Lennon and John Grieve.
