British Politician. He served in the British Army during World War I as a Captain in the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, and was blinded by a German bullet during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. He went on to be elected as a Member of Parliament, and as President of the British Legion. He did significant work for the blind.
