Cheryl Ann Montgomery (Nee: Miller), 62, of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. Born in Dayton, OH, she spent most of her career in a variety of administrative positions and retired after working for The State of Kentucky. Motherhood, however, was her real calling in life. She raised two daughters, Chelsea and Olivia. She stood by her principles of honesty and integrity and was understandably outspoken at times. She had deep compassion for others, was challenging to some and a guardian angel to others. As an organ donor, her final act of giving, Cheryl helped up to fifteen people. She was a humanitarian, passionate about social justice and adored animals. She had a particular affection for cats, especially Sadie and Annabelle. She nurtured splendid pockets of greenery, blossoming flowers and trees. She loved to stroll in a garden and looked forward to the plant life emerging from the earth in the spring. Cheryl enjoyed events with the Cincinnati Pops, an annual trip to the Appalachian Festival at Coney Island, solving a good mystery movie and making squishy waffles with her grandchildren. Vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard beside the tranquility of the ocean was very special to her. One of her favorite spots was sitting on her porch and enjoying the quietness.
She leaves behind two loving daughters: Chelsea Meyers (Gabriel) and Olivia Kavanaugh, her beloved grandchildren: Avery and Samuel Meyers, her dear sisters: Kathryn Bishop, Nelda Purdon (Mike), Sandra Barhorst (Robert) and Melissa Litkenhaus (Larry), two nephews: Aaron and Brian Bishop, her mother: Geraldine Burkhart and her cherished loving companion and confidant: Joe Menez. Her grandmother, Kathryn Auten, preceded her in death in 1999. At Cheryl’s request, a memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of her family. She will find lasting peace with her loving grandmother at Bellbrook Cemetery in Bellbrook, OH.
