He died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 1968, at Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 46, a native and resident of Walker. He was an operator for Kaiser Aluminum and a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Body at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home in Denham Springs until 10:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 1968. Religious services at Walker Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 1968, with the Revs. H. B. Wilkinson, W. F. McMasters & W. H. Marshall officiating. Burial in the Minton Cemetary in Walker. Pallbearers: Terry Cannon, Donald Holden, Ivy Hodges, Lester Hodges, Ray Burgess, Lee Earl Townsend. Honorary pallbearers: Kaiser Aluminum press floor group.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Hood Courtney; a son-in-law, Lanny Dedeaux; two daughters, Mrs Janet Dedeaux and Miss Rita Courtney, all of Walker; four sisters, Mrs. Thompson (Noema) Cannon of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Henry (Ethel) Hood, Mrs. E. J. (Maydee) Hodges and Mrs. Kemp (Thadis) Holden, all of Walker; and one brother, F. D. Courtney of Walker.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Frank (Bo) Bunch.
He was a member of the Walker Baptist Church.
