Lauren Ashley Brooks, a lifelong resident of So. Fulton, TN passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 in Obion County, TN.
Ashley was born in Union City, TN on June 3, 1996 to Shannon Bradshaw Eakes of Union City, TN and Morton Keith Brooks of So. Fulton, TN
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her Step Father, Jim Eakes of Union City, TN, her Maternal Grandparents, Betty and Mark Moore of Union City, TN and Joe Bradshaw of Hickman, KY, Paternal Grandmother, JoAnn George Brooks of So. Fulton, TN and a brother, Tyler Keith Brooks, So. Fulton, TN.
She is also survived by her Great Grandmother, Evelyn Moore, Union City, TN, Step Mother, Katie White, Memphis, TN., Great Uncle, Bill Brooks, So. Fulton, TN, Aunts, Kim (Greg) Little, Kenton, TN and Angie Reynolds, Sharon, TN. as well as several cousins.
Preceding her in death was her Paternal Grandfather, Morton L. Brooks who passed away September 24, 2018.
Ashley was a 2014 Graduate of Obion County Central High School. She was in her second season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the University of Tennessee at Martin Rodeo Program following a standout career as a student-athlete.
Ashley had been a member of the UT Martin Rodeo Program since 2014, taking part in barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying events from 2014-19.
In addition to her competing as a student-athlete throughout the course of the 2018-19 season, she also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the team which included her brother, Tyler.
In 2017-18, Ashley ranked fourth in the Ozark Region in barrel racing, compiling 490 overall points. She advanced to the 2015 College National Finals Rodeo as a Freshman, finishing 23rd in the nation in barrel racing with a 43.53 average time.
Since graduating from UT Martin in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in agriculture, she was pursing a graduate degree in agriculture and natural resources system management.
She always enjoyed attending Cowboy Churches locally and while competing with her team on the road.
Being remembered as a fierce competitor, her beloved horses, Jane and Lil Bay were her life and very instrumental in her success and winning various awards in the rodeo program.
Ashley was a 3 time Junior High and 3 time High School National Finals Qualifier, 2010 TN Junior High School All Around Champion, 2013-14 Tennessee High School All Around Champion, 2013 National IBRA Champion Barrel Racer and All American Youth World Champion and 2 time NIRA Collegiate Qualifier.
She was also nominated for 2018 top 10 Athlete of the Year, was a member of the 2018 Ozark Champion Womens Team as well as being a 2019 NCPRA Finals Qualifier and PCA Finals Qualifier.
Funeral Services for Ashley will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at the South Fulton Baptist Church. Rev. Kent Holt and Dr. Ron Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the South Fulton Baptist Church from 4:00-9:00 pm Monday night and after 9:00 am Tuesday until the funeral hour.
Active Pallbearers will be: Tyler Brooks, Cooper Newton, Cody Little, Mason Eakes, Chase Thrasher, Bob Loosenot, Cleve Crook and Matt James.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the UTM Rodeo Team.
