Minnie Lou Blackburn, age 88, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the home of her devoted daughter Brenda. She was a member of Third Creek Baptist Church and appreciated her special caregivers and friends, Lisa Pickett, Dana Broson, Kelly McMurray, Jarita Langston, Sandy Emery, Trish Massengill and Jim Pickett. Since being widowed she enjoyed lunches at Wrights Cafeteria with Jim, Lisa and Brenda, and going with Kelly to the lake house and out to dinner. She also enjoyed spending hours on her paradise patio gliding with her beloved cat, Jasmine and even danced on her last 4th of July.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Clay Hurst and Lawrence E. Blackburn; sons, Vaughn Blackburn and David Blackburn.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Blackburn, and Sherry Helton (Keith); daughter-in-law, Janet S. Blackburn; grandchildren, Morgan Blackburn, Jason Helton, and Chandler Helton; great-grandchildren, Natalie Blackburn, Jonathan Austin, Jacqueline Helton, Jillian Helton, and Josie Helton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1:00 pm graveside service. Serving as pallbearers Pat Hooks, Shane Hensley, Rickie Elliott, Bob West, Robby Stroud, Bill Evers, Jack Dixon, and Jim Pickett. Honorary Pallbearer Joe Lynch.
