Ladyce Edna Barr Foster
Ladyce Edna Barr Foster, 86, of Boise, died Sunday, July 2, 1989, at a Boise care center, where she had resided since 1986, following the death of her husband, William E. Foster, in 1985. Her daughter, June Barr Payne, formerly well known in Boise, was at her side at the time of death, which was by natural causes following a lingering illness of several years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Officiating will be Elder Cecil Gilmore of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will follow in Cloverdale Memorial Park.
Ladyce, a retired hardware and plumbing company office manager, was born July 9, 1902, a daughter of Ernest and Minnie Fletcher, at Boise. She was educated in Boise public schools and later attended Link's Business College.
Throughout four decades, she was employed by Idaho Hardware & Plumbing Company and then the E.W. Little Company, both of Boise, serving most of those years serving in the position of office manager.
She was married at Boise to Clarence Burton Barr in 1933 and widowed at his death in 1970.
Following retirement, she moved to Southern California to live with her daughter and son-in-law, June and William L. Payne, now of Ventura, Calif. In 1978, she returned to Boise to be with her sister, Evelyn Foster, who was ill.
She married William E. Foster in June of 1979, at Boise, and was widowed at his death in 1985.
She was a life long and active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will always be remembered as a 'lady', quiet and unassuming, who was ready to help when there was need. One of her favorite things was decorating for Christmas, and she won Boise's Christmas Decoration Contest a number of times. Very dear to her family and friends, she will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her daughter, June Payne of Ventura, Calif.; a grandson, Tedd W. Payne of Valparaiso, Ind.; two great-granddaughters, Casie and Amy Payne of Valparaiso, Ind.; three brothers, Donald E. Fletcher, MD, of Grayford, Texas, Arthur E. Fletcher of Meridian, and Cecil R. Fletcher of Portland, Ora; a sister, Lucille Fletcher of Boise; stepchildren, Norene Larsen of Boise and Clayton Foster of Newport, Ore.; eight step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert; two sisters, Evelyn Foster and Gladys Fulton; and a nephew, Bill Foster Jr.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise.
