TORRINGTON – Arthur L. Hobson III passed away after a short illness at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on Dec. 10, 2019, surrounded by his family.

Art was born in Boston on June 3, 1934. He lived all across the United States and foreign countries before retiring to Lakeridge, Torrington, and Brandywine Assisted Living in Litchfield.

He was a proud veteran, serving in the Navy during the 1950s, and was stationed in Hawaii. Art had a strong work ethic and was a talented businessman who established numerous companies. Art’s Golf Carts is still a thriving business in Florida, and run by family. Boating, fishing, and cooking fine meals brought him much enjoyment.

Art is survived by his wife, Ann, of Lakeridge; his sister, Elizabeth Rand of Washington; his three children and their partners, Arty Hobson Jr. of Florida, Tori Sullivan and Jennifer McKee, both of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brandywine and Charlotte Hungerford for the wonderful care shown to Art during his time there.

In keeping with Art’s wishes, there are no services. With his love of the ocean, his ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date_
