Gloria Jean Baker, age 72, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Hudson.
She was born June 7, 1947 in the Gamewell Community of Caldwell County to the late Fields H. and Gladys Parson Baker.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by two infant brothers, David Baker and Donald Baker.
Gloria, a loving daughter, sister and friend was a devoted member of Gamewell United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir. She continued to sing while residing in Lenoir Health Care Center from 2001 to 2019.
Survivors include two younger brothers, Ronald Henry Baker and wife Linda of Reidsville, NC and Stephen Douglas Baker and wife Barbara of Lenoir; two nieces, Sherrill Baker of Reidsville, NC and Caryn Baker Cunningham and husband Roger of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one nephew, Logan Baker of Washington state; and many caring friends, old and new.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. David Noyes and Rev. Peter Brown. A private graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
