Michael spent his younger years in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School.
He began his working career at Texas Crushed Stone in Georgetown. He soon realized agriculture/ranching was his passion and pursued it until he became ill in 2013. In his words, there is no better day than climbing upon a good horse and chasing cattle across a pasture. This was truly a passion of his and he enjoyed it each and every time.
He never met a stranger and truly loved people and talking about whatever subject might come up. He was a member of the Taylor Rodeo Association and enjoyed many other activities throughout his lifetime. He was a man of true grit and strong character. He enjoyed cattle, ranching, roping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends most of all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winifred (Wink) Lee Walden.
Michael is survived by his mother, Vera Byrd Schwartz of Taylor; son, Ethan Walden and wife McKenna, of Brenham; daughters Rachael Newsome and husband Shawn Newsome of Granger and Lindsay Taylor of Cameron; brother, Brent Walden of Port Aransas; five grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made in his honor to Miracle Farm in Brenham, Texas 77833, an organization who help change lives of at-risk youths through an innovative horse program.
