CHESTER — Martha (Johnson) Bond, 96, of Chester, W.Va., passed away Oct. 29, 2019, at Center Crest in Bellefonte, Pa., after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 11, 1922, in Chester, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth Johnson.
Martha graduated co-salutorian from Chester High School and from East Liverpool Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. She then worked for Dr. David Pugh, Harker China Co., and Fox Nursing Home.
She was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Chester, she she taught Bible School, directed plays, and sang in the choir. She worked on several mission trips to Mexico, New Orleans, and Zambia, Africa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald Bond, three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include her son, Johnny Bond and wife Francine, daughter Moira Dearmit, five grandchildren, one step-grandchild, five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held Nov. 10, 2019.
Koch Funeral Home of Pennsylvania handled the arrangements.
