Garry D. Smith, 77, of Overland Park, KS died on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 after a brief illness.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Newcomers Floral Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Garry was born on December 25, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in the U.S. Army. Throughout his career, he worked as a construction project manager. He worked for MEGA Industries at the time of his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Smith and Helen Silvius Smith. He is survived by his wife Janice, his daughter Rebecca, and his son Chadwick. He is also survived by his brother Richard.
Garry loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working with his hands.
Garry was a dog lover and owned several rescued animals. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Pet Project.
