JOHN HENRY LYON, JR.
August 18, 1966 – October 29, 2019

John Henry Lyon, Jr., 53, of Parker, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

He was born on August 18, 1966, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to John Henry Lyon Sr. and M. Nancy Hayes Lyon. Throughout his life, John had an unquenchable yearning to learn. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, without having received an undergraduate degree, a testament to his work ethic and character. At the age of 18, John began his life-long career with Perot companies. He served in various roles within the three Ross Perot IT Companies including Vice President of Corporate Finance with Perot Systems Corporation, Vice President of Transformation, Vice President, CFO for the Infrastructure & Cloud Computing Group, Vice President of Finance, and, most recently, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Guide IT. John was successful in his work and formed wonderful friendships there. He was a loved mentor to everyone across his organizations and his colleagues admired him for his integrity and strong work ethic. He challenged everyone he worked with to be the best, as he demanded nothing less from himself. He was constantly on the brink of innovation, consistently driving novel and creative approaches into his work. He had a brilliant mind for finance and business operations, often bringing his business and operational expertise to bear.

John loved to travel. He loved to share adventures abroad with his family and friends, often taking them on day long excursions in Europe that he himself planned. He loved to experience the world through food, culture, and music. He loved his home on Coronado Island. He had a deep love for his hometown hockey and football teams the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, and was an avid supporter of Newcastle United Football Club in the English Premier League. More than anything, though, John cherished his family and friends. He was blessed to have met his match, Kristi, and so proud of their son, Miles. Even while overcoming countless physical limitations throughout life, John always found a way to succeed with a smile on his face and a generous heart filled with love, warmth, and joy. His presence filled each room he entered with levity, often followed by his infectious laugh and sense of humor. He was proud of the life he built and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Lyon, Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Kristi Kae Lyon; son, Miles Spencer Lyon of Winston-Salem, NC; mother, Nancy Taylor and husband, Ben, of Pittsburgh, PA; uncles, Charles Hayes and Robert Hayes; stepbrother, Benjamin Taylor and his wife, Shelley; stepsister, Cynthia Powell and her husband, Dave; nephews, Benjamin, Kyle, Scott, and Chad.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 11th, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 West Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093, reception following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The ALD Foundation or Canine Companions for Independence.
