Harold Hurd, 92, of Lubbock, loving and devoted husband and father, passed away Monday, September 5, 2005.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 9, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Dr. Will Cotton officiating. Afterwards the family will greet friends in the foyer.

Harold was born August 2, 1913 in Vera.

He served in the Army Air Force with tours of duty in France and England. He earned his B.S. degree from Texas Tech University.

He married Rosie Paschall in 1949. Harold worked as a geologist in Abilene and later taught science in Muleshoe and the Lubbock public schools.

Harold has been an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church since 1962. After retiring he and Rosie enjoyed several years traveling, bird watching and working as volunteers.

His parents Tom and Claudia Hurd and three sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; two sons, Marcus and David and wife Tita; daughter, Renee Reyes and husband Sam, all of Lubbock; and four grandchildren, Brittney, Erin, Kristen and Brandon.
