Fred Arnold Mason II, was born December 23, 1926 in Success, MO, his parents were Fred Arnold Mason I and Mable Eunice Bates. He went to be with his Lord December 6, 2019 at his home.

Fred grew up in a large family; he attended school in the Ozarks. He served his country in the Army as a SGT in the 11th Airborne (Paratrooper) Reconnaisance during the occupation of Japan.

Fred married Ruby Pauliene Crisp December 24, 1947; they were married 72 years. They had one child, Ruby Regina, who married Michael Paul Blackwell.

Fred worked as an aircraft inspector with Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KA and was a member of the International Association of Machinists. When his family moved to Louisiana, Fred became a carpenter and was a member of Local #764 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners from which he retired. Fred was a member of St Theresa’s Catholic Church and then Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He served as eucharistic minister for many years bringing communion to the sick as well as serving in church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1108 and served as their Grand Knight and later he joined the Broadmoor Council. He was a lifetime member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and served in the color guard for various parish and diocesan functions.

Fred loved history particularly civil war history. He was the family storyteller and knew history and stories of his and his wife’s families. Fred loved to do woodwork and built many treasured pieces of furniture designed by his wife Ruby for them and their daughter. He was happiest when he and Ruby were working on a project. Together they built a new room on their house in the last 10 years and in the last year they remodeled their kitchen. Fred was a wonderful example of a husband and father and will be sorely missed.

Fred was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael Blackwell, brothers, Leslie and Lyle Mason, sisters, Lula and Eunice Mason and Ruth Shorter, as well as his parents, Fred and Mable Mason.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Ruby, and a daughter, Ruby Blackwell. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Mason and Deloris Russell, and one brother, Doyle Mason.
