Jim proudly served our country in the United States Air Force where he received the Air Force Commendation Metal from the 77th Air Refueling Squadron. He retired from civil service as a Jet Engine Mechanic at Cherry Point.
He is survived by his wife, Pam West of the home; sons, Brian West and companion Stephanie Adams of Havelock and Chris West of Morehead City; mother, Sara West of Bladenboro; sisters, Sandra Cyphers and companion Ray of Wilmington; brother, Michael West and wife Chrissy of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Greta Haye of Crab Point; brother-in-law, Tim Page of Bladenboro; and grandchildren, Jasmine West of Red Springs and Xander West of Havelock.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Wyche West, Jr.; grandfather, Ira Wyche West, Sr.; grandmothers, Gladys West and Kathleen West; grandparents, Laura Dell Storms and Woodie Storms; and sister, Jackie Page.
