Benjamin Turner, Jr, (87) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 9, 2019. He was born February 2, 1932 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Benjamin Turner, Sr. and Wrenda Turner.
He graduated from Old Stanton High School in 1951. He was a Corporal in the US Army where he completed an active tour of duty in the Korean War. He received a Combat Infantry Badge, 2 bronze stars, Korean service medal, National Defense Service medal, and United Nations Service medal for his service. He was employed by CSX Railroad as a Track Inspector/Foreman and retired in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jewel Turner; daughters, Jocelyn Turner-Musa (Adel) and Felicia Turner-Amador; 3 granddaughters, Shadia, Kayla, and Angel; a devoted brother-in-law, Samuel Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 11:00am at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, 10325 Interstate Center Drive, Rev. Dr. Eugene Diamond, Pastor. The interment will be held at 1:30 pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road. Visitation of friends will be held at Sarah L. Carter's Funeral Home Northside Chapel, 6665 New Kings Rd. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
