Moscow Mayor. He served as Mayor of Moscow, form 1992 to 2010, he served as Deputy Premier of the Soviet Union, for 3 months, August to November. Before his time as Mayor of Moscow, he was elected member of the Moscow city council in 1977, and then in 1987 he was transferred to the executive branch Moscow city (Mosgorispolkom). He was appointed as Mayor in 1992 by the Russian president Boris Yeltsin since Gavriil Popov was unsuccessful in solving the city's crisis. Under his government the city of Moscow experienced a major construction boom and became the worlds most attractive city for estate investments. In 2010 he was dismissed by President Medvedev after returning form a holiday citing "loss of trust".
