Frederick was born and raised in Morristown, New Jersey where he has been a lifelong resident for 68 years. He was involved in many community and school activities, including the Boy Scouts. He was a competitive swimmer in his youth and was a lifeguard and pool manager for the town pools. In high school he performed in Guys and Dolls and sang in the New Jersey All-State Choir. He performed across the country including the U.S. Virgin Islands and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Frederick graduated Morristown High School in 1968 and attended Boston University where he studied broadcasting.
After college Frederick worked as a broadcaster for WMTR/WGAJ radio. Additionally, he worked as a corporate chauffeur, executive assistant, and later as a part-time fire code inspector for the Township of Morris. Frederick served as a volunteer member of the Morris Township Fire Department, Mt. Kemble Fire Company for over 30 years. Frederick served as Lieutenant and Captain in the fire company then as Battalion Chief for the department for 8 years. He was recognized for his response with the Morris County Decon Task Force to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
He is preceded in death by his father Frederick. He is survived by wife Elizabeth, son Frederick Jr. and wife Erica, son William and wife Brittany, sons Kyle and Timothy, son Sean, son Brendan and fiancée Bonnie, his mother Mary, sister Susan and husband Frederick Yawger, and grandson Henry.
Visitation will be held on Monday Nov. 4th 2019 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown, NJ 07960. Funeral service will held at the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, 57 E Park Pl. Morristown, NJ 07960 on Tuesday Nov. 5th at 11:00am, with repast to follow at the Woodland Fire Company, 20 Dwyer Ln., Morristown, NJ 07960. Burial will be held for immediate family at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY on Wednesday Nov. 6th at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be his sons Frederick Jr, William, Sean, Brendan, Kyle, and Timothy.
