On October 23, 1968 a gorgeous baby girl was born to Barbara Holmes Walker and Earl Lawrence Jackson, Sr. in Austin, Texas. She was named Sheila Marie Walker. Sheila was the only child of Barbara Holmes-Walker.

Sheila accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the young age of seven. She was baptized at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. W. B. Southerland. She was a member of the youth choir until she became an usher. She attended the Del Valle ISD. She won numerous, track and field medals for her exceptional speed in the 440 relay. She was also a member of the varsity volleyball team. She attended Capital City Trade and Technical Schools Medical Assistance program.
She worked several years at the Austin State Hospital as a Mental Health and Mental Retardation Specialist, she worked as a Home Health Aid and the job she loved most, working at the University of Texas dining hall until her passing. Sheila was always known for having several jobs at once.

Sheila passed Wednesday December 4, 2019 smiling with several of her family members by her side.

Those who are awaiting her homecoming; her parents, Barbara Holmes-Walker and Earl Lawrence Jackson, Sr., her daughter, Shawndericka Shanae Yell and her brother, Earl Lawrence "Punch" Jackson II.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her son Erick Walker and his seven children, Erick Jr., Eri’jah, Eri’yah, Cherish, Ayden, Prince and God-Son Devin; her daughters, Shamekica and Aaliyah; sisters, Patricia "Penny" Jackson and her husband, Willie of Syracuse, New York; Regina Robinson and her husband, Lancy of El Paso, Texas; Yolanda Dixon and her husband, Sean of Biloxi, Mississippi; Juanita Walker and her husband, Glendall of Austin, Texas; step mother, Sandra Semien; aunts, Evelyn Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; Diane Graham of Manor, Texas; uncles, David Holmes, Sr. and Donald Holmes, Sr. of Austin; ex-husbands, Cornell Yell and Michael Lowery and a host of relatives, co-workers and friends.

Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Much like her mother and aunts, Sheila loved to cook for all occasions. Sheila was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas Longhorns football teams. She was a provider, survivor, comedian, caregiver, and dependable ride or die friend.
