She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald and Katherine Hawkins of Upland California, and Clarence and Linda Hawkins of Claremont California; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeannie Burton of Oregon, Dena Pollock of Three Creeks, Idaho, Dorothy and Robert Davidson of Caldwell, Idaho, Joyce and Bob Hart of Eatonville, Washington and James Franklin of Payette. Her children blessed her with thirteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. After her husband passed in 1997 she was part of a widows’ support group in Payette.
She busied herself with babysitting her grandkids, and took care of her large garden and a rented pasture where she watched over horses and other animals. Bessie was a strong minded woman but not short on compassion and kindness. Over the last few years she sank into the fog of memory loss and finally required skilled nursing care. She spent her final years at The Cottages in Payette. The family thanks them for the good care they gave her.
The Memorial service is scheduled for 2 PM Friday December 13 at Shaffer Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Payette Senior Center or The Alzheimer’s Association.
