Barry Gibson Taylor, born May 16, 1945 in Annapolis MD, passed away December 7, 2019 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages FL. At the time of his death, he resided in Fruitland Park FL. He had battled Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia for several years.

Barry proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years in Vietnam. He was proud to be a Veteran. Barry worked in several positions for UPS in Maryland before moving to Florida in 1980.

After an early retirement due to disabilities, Barry started coaching Baseball for the City of Leesburg Recreation Department. Starting with his youngest son’s team, he continued to coach other teams for several more years until a decline health forced him to stop.

He was also a proud supporter of his oldest son’s passion for Star Wars and the 501 Legion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Timothy Gibson Taylor and Winifred Collins. His daughter, Vicki Lynn, and Granddaughter, Katelyn Mackenzie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Loudema Gwinn of Fruitland Park, FL; His sons, James (Kimberly) Taylor of Gainesville FL; Stuart (LeAnn) Taylor of Fruitland Park FL; Grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Christina and Breanna; His brothers, Timothy (Lucy) Taylor of TN; Robert (Janice) Taylor of CO; and sister, Marsha (Jim) Trimmer of MD.

A viewing will be held at Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg on Sunday, December 15, 2019 between 3pm and 5pm. A service will be held at The National Cemetery at Bushnell, Monday December 16, 2019 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warrior project, AMVETS, DAV or VFW of your choice.
