Nina C. Harris, 79, of Parsons, passed away at 3:43 a.m., Sunday, December 8, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Nina Catherine Sanders was born on March 22, 1940, to Willie Jasper and Sarah Ollie (Cummings) Sanders in Fort Scott, Kansas. As a young girl, Nina grew up and attended school in Fort Scott. She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1958.

In 1963, James H. Mack and Nina C. Sanders were united in marriage. The couple lived in Fort Scott before moving to Pittsburg. The couple then moved to Parsons in 1973 and were later divorced.

Nina worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center and the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. She had also worked in customer service at Country Mart and as a caregiver to her son.

A cornerstone of Nina’s life was her church. She was a very active member of Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Besides spending time with and caring for her family, Nina enjoyed gardening of all kinds, sewing and cooking.

Nina and Robert T. Harris were married on February 14, 1996 in Eureka Springs Arkansas. He survives of the home.

Survivors Include her husband. Robert T. Harris; three sons, Reginald T. Mack, Clifton Mack and Vhristopher Mack (Melody); two daughters, Cynthia Sanders-Brown and Toni Sanders-Greene (Edward); step-daughters Lorrie Taylor, Judi A. Harris (April); Twenty-five Grandchildren; Twenty-eight Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great-Grandson; Two Brothers, Rev. Leroy Nelson (Louise) and Robert Nelson (Evelyn); One Sister, Eula Crowder; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by three infant sons, Larry Joe Sanders and twins, Steven and Keyen Sanders; her parents; three brothers, William Nelson, Thomas Nelson and Anthony Nelson; and two sisters, Amanda Lou Nelson and Ethel Miller.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2019, at Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. There will be a visitation 6 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the church.
