On Sunday, December 8, 2019, Joshua Aaron Ray Newton, passed away at the age of 23 years in a motorcycle accident. He is remembered by his family and friends as a great man, loyal friend, and someone who would always have your back.

Josh was born to Kimberly Ann Ray and Aaron Ray Newton on January 17, 1996, in Yokosuka, Japan, where his dad was serving on active duty in the United States Navy. He graduated from Gulfport High School in Gulfport, Mississippi in 2014 and joined the Navy on November 8, 2016, to proudly continue a military legacy of his family, both his father and grandfather are retired, honorably discharged military veterans. Josh also attended his early years of high school at Garrard County High School in Lancaster, Kentucky where many of his lifelong friendships began.

As a Navy Seabee CM3, Joshua is remembered by his Seabee command unit, NMCB 133 Runnin’ Roos, as “a GREAT Sailor with a very bright future” and as a man who always looked out for and helped others.

Josh enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was well-known for his love of antique vehicles and motorcycles. He worked hard to maintain his 1973 Chevy Nova and his Pawpaw’s old 1989 GMC S15 truck clean. He loved riding his Harley. He wanted a motorcycle ever since he was little and was so proud when he made that dream come to fruition.

Joshua loved taking his motorcycle out and going for a ride with his buddies. If you saw him out for a night on the town, you would have found him with a Miller Lite in his hand and a smile on his face. Probably by the pool tables or with a group of his friends cracking jokes. He had the greatest sense of humor and always had everyone around him smiling or laughing.

Josh is survived by his mother, Kimberly, his father, Aaron, his sister Alyssa Loren Gould (Tyler Nugent), his niece LorelaiNugent, maternal grandmother, Eva Wedgeworth Ray, paternal grandparents Dee and Don Higgins.
