Roy "Bud" Vestal Matthews, 76, of Randleman, died Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Phyllis Coates officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Roy was born on January 23, 1943, son to the late Oland Vestal Matthews and Mary Madeline Cheek Matthews.
Mr. Matthews had worked for Brady Lumber Company and attended Piney Ridge United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and watching television, especially his favorites "Gunsmoke" and baseball.
Surviving are his son, Leroy Ellison and wife Jonita of Asheboro; sisters, Sadie Roper and husband Charles of Asheboro, Fern Pullen of Asheboro; brothers, Samuel "Sammy" Matthews of Seagrove, Lonnie Wayne Matthews and wife Zula of Ramseur; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
