On March 7, 2016, Mary Rita suffered a stroke which left her unable to walk. She spent the rest of her life confined to bed, recliner, and wheelchair, until the angels came and quietly carried her to Heaven. She was cared for by her husband who was also her legal guardian. Her husband also assisted Huntsville-Madison County Mental Health Center in caring for Mary Rita's mental health problems that she had for many years. Moreover, her husband worked closely with Southern Care Hospice in the performance of their duties.
Visitation will be from 3 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Chaplain Steve Spray officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Maple Hill Cemetery.
