Myrtle Lee Ray age 90, of Richlands, Virginia was surrounded by her children as she passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 in Tazewell, Virginia following a lengthy illness.

She was born on January 13, 1929 and was the daughter of Will and Ida Alice Davis Ball. Myrtle had dedicated her life to caring for her family, she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had lived most of her life in the surrounding area and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ray; sisters, Lola Newberry, Artie Osborne; brothers, Arch Ball and Avery Ball.

Those who remain to carry on her spirit are her:

Melissa Hunsaker and husband, Craig of Richlands, VA

Son, Joseph W. Ray and wife, Betty of Radford, VA

Grandchildren, DeEtta Duffy and husband, Allen; ; Sarah Jackson Kelly; Kristi McConnell and husband, Chris; Katye Glass and husband, Heath; Kylie Fletcher; Jody Ray and wife, Brandi; Mikey Jackson and wife, Katie; Mark Welch and Gabe Hunsaker.

Ten great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild also survive along with a host of family and friends.

The funeral service for Myrtle Lee Ray will be conducted at 1:00 pm on December 12 , 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands Virginia with the Rev. Buddy Herald and Jerry Welch officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jody Ray, Mikey Jackson, Mark Welch, Gabe Hunsaker, Joseph Ray and Jack Ray. Family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 am on Thursday until time of service.
