Sapulpa -- Services for nine-year old Darrell Wayne Montgomery, who died Thursday [correction: Friday, April 2, 1971] of encephalitis, commonly known as "sleeping sickness", will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel.

The Montgomery boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Montgomery, had been ill with the disease for about two years. Before contracting the sickness, he attended Lone Star Grade School in Sapulpa.

Montgomery was born in Oklahoma City July 2, 1961, and his parents later moved to Tulsa. The family moved to Sapulpa three years ago, but his father continued to work in Tulsa for a grocery chain store.

Besides his parents, Montgomery is survived by a brother, Billy Ray and one sister, Lavina both of the home; Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Montgomery, Campbell, California, his grandparents; L.W. Snow, Silver Springs, Maryland, grandparent; and Mr. and Mrs. Helen Dunham, Oklahoma City, grandparents.

Burial will be in South Heights Cemetery [later changed to Green Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery] in Sapulpa, [Oklahoma].
