Ruby Howell Scott, age 94, of Hoover, Alabama, was born August 16, 1925 in Searles, Alabama. She went to be with her Lord on December 8, 2019. She was the youngest of eight children born to her parents Linnie and Fred Howell.

Howell, as she preferred, was a "Rosie" at the airport during WWII. She also modeled for many years opening her own modeling agency where she taught young ladies how to model. She loved ballroom dancing and not only danced, but taught it for many years. Howell retired as a fine ladies clothing/fur buyer for the Yieldings Department Stores in Birmingham, Alabama. She had many outside interests in her active life. She was an avid doll collector, and known all over the world as one of the top “Barbie” doll experts and collector. She not only collected dolls, but other interesting and unusual items.

Howell was also a loyal wife to her husband, Jim Scott, who preceded her in death. They were married for many years and shared a wonderful family life together. She is also preceded in death by daughter, Cathy Yarbrough, and a grandson. She is survived by a son; daughters, Jann Andrews (Carroll), India Henson (Hal), and son Jim Scott, Jr. (Lorie); ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who affectionately regarded her as Aunt Ruby. Family was very important to her. And times spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved friends were treasured.

Howell was a faithful Christian and put her trust in God at a young age. She was a long time member of Valleydale Church. In the most difficult and trying times in her life recently, she unceasingly reached out to God.

The family will receive friends from 1PM - 2PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, with a celebration of life to follow at 2PM at Elmwood Chapel. The burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
