ST. MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Shirley Boudreaux Berard, age 76, at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes. Fr. Bill Melancon will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 am until the service time with a rosary being prayed at 11:00 am.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Coteau Holmes, Shirley passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at AMG specialty Hospital in Lafayette surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed the simple life of country living. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bourré, and liked going to the casino. Shirley was also an avid reader, who loved to sit down with a good book. She would often visit with family and friends, catching up on their lives and chatting about the good old days. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Daigle and husband Wayne of Coteau Holmes, Annette Bourque of Coteau Holmes, Darlene Arnaud and husband Charles of Coteau Holmes, Marlene Frederick and husband Carl of Grand Bois, Jackie Savoy and husband Roy, Jr. of Coteau Holmes, and Michelle Domingue and husband Tony of Coteau Holmes; step-daughters, Susan Berard of Carencro and Sheri Barynes of Vidalia; sisters Agnes Louviere and Mary Jane Melancon; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Allen Berard; parents, O’Neil and Annette Johnson Boudreaux; granddaughter, Makala Domingue; son-in-law, Albert “BooBoo” Bourque, Jr.; first husband, Ernest Chatagnier; and siblings.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
