Young man leaves behind big family

He was a junior at Michigan City High School in Michigan City, Indiana. In his free time, he liked to play basketball and video games.

In a city with violent crime on the rise, he became another victim. He won’t attend his prom or walk across the stage at his graduation.

Justin Ameer Garner was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head in his car on Jan. 16, 2019, apparently shot by someone else in the vehicle. He was 18 years old. He left behind a mother, father, two siblings, three half-siblings and a large extended family.

Justin A. Garner, 18, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 8:06 pm in Michigan City, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 24, 2019 at New Creation Vineyard Church, 9009 W. Pahs Rd., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Dave Swartz officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Thursday at New Creation Vineyard Church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born December 13, 2000 in LaPorte, Indiana.
Surviving are his father; Keenan (Patricia) Garner of Michigan City, IN; mother, Samantha (Antwone Pam) Garner of Michigan City, IN; two brothers, Andre McFadden and Keenan Garner, II, both of Michigan City, IN; three step-brothers, Jerome Watts, II of South Bend, IN, Justin Watts of Michigan City, IN and Tristen Watts of Michigan City, IN; grandparents, Christopher and Connie Kolasa of Michigan City, IN and James and Juanita Garner of Michigan City, IN; great-grandmother, Lovel McFadden of Michigan City, IN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Justin was a junior at Michigan City High School and enjoyed playing basketball and video games. He also worked at Rally's and Bridges Restaurant.
