Harold O. Rugh, 36, father of Danny Rugh of Ellensburg, died of carbon monoxide poisoning at Puyallup Thursday after his car slipped into a ditch and the exhaust pipe became plugged with snow.
Pierce County Coroner Frank James said Rugh's car slipped into the ditch about one mile from his home soon after midnight Wednesday, but he was not found until eight hours later when a motorist stopped to investigate. James said the exhaust pipe became clogged with snow as Rugh was attempting to get traction to get his car out.
Besides his son, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Rugh of Puyallup; a sister, Mrs. Keith Askew of California and four brothers, Clyde, Ward, Frank and Kenneth Rugh, all of Ellensburg.
Funeral services will be held at the Wrigley-Clemente Funeral Home in Puyallup Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
