BRANCHVILLE -- James E. Whitesell, 70, of Branchville, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Newton Medical Center.
Born in Newton, Mr. Whitesell was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He was the owner and operator of Jim’s Village Luncheonette in Branchville. A United States Army veteran, Mr. Whitesell served from June 13, 1966, through March 31, 1970. He was a 45 year member of the Kittatinny Masonic Lodge #164 F&AM and was a member of American Legion Post 157 in Branchville.
The son of the late Emmett C. Whitesell, Sr., and Daisy (Brown) Whitesell, Mr. Whitesell was also predeceased by two brothers, John C. Whitesell Sr. and Herbert W. Whitesell Sr.; and a sister, Leona Ayers.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Jane (Stires) Whitesell; three brothers, Emmett C. Whitesell Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Montague, Arthur Whitesell of Pennsylvania, and Eugene M. Whitesell and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Frankford Township; a sister-in-law, Mary C. Whitesell, of Branchville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. Interment will be held in Branchville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m.
