B Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, Americal Division, USARV.

Killed by small arms fire from a hostile force while passenger on a military vehicle on a combat operation, vicinity of Boa Binh Ba, 9 km North-Northeast of Thang Binh, Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.
Four other soldiers died in this event: SFC Neil P. Farmer, Sgt Robert L. Knight, SP4 Stephen M. Lewis, SP4 Robert H. Smart.
